Centennial High School - Year End Updates

Dear Centennial High School Community,

We are nearing the formal end of the 2025/26 school year.  Yesterday we hosted our Academic Awards Ceremonies, during which we celebrated dozens of exceptional students.  It is no small feat to achieve the highest mark of every student in any class in a school of our size, and it is an incredible achievement to be recognized as a major award winner among 600 grade level peers.  Kudos to all who were recognized for the dedication and commitment you have shown to your school, your studies, and yourselves.  Thank you to our Academic Awards Committee, headed up by Stu Pierpoint, Mike Svoboda, and Kennedy Todd, and supported by many others.  It is important to recognize excellence, and without your tireless work we would not be able to do so.

Meanwhile, Final Exams are complete and report cards posted.  The last day of classes for students in our Inclusive Education programs is today, and Tuesday is the last workday of the school year for staff.  It has been quite the year at Centennial, and really everywhere in this ever-complex world of ours.  And still, it was a great year.  There is much to be proud of, with the Class of 2026 leading the way in that regard.

Please read below for a number of updates.

A Message for our Class of 2026

Time marches on.  Your time at Centennial moved quickly.  Your journey as a Coyote, from Link Crew orientation to your last day of classes and/or Final Exam this June, was in many ways a blur.  Here you are, somewhat suddenly, entering the next stage of this incredible adventure we call life.  Some of you will enter the workforce, while others volunteer here or abroad.  Still others among you will attend post-secondary institutions, furthering your education.  All will continue to learn, and will find your way towards fulfillment and happiness.  Please remember to find your footing in your own way.  Be kind to yourselves, and to others.  Get outside.  Be active.  Help people out.  Seek joy.  Surround yourselves with good people, and be one of those good people.  Mr. Krause mentioned his 80/20 theory at your Graduation Ceremony.  It is a poignant message.  It is true that none of us are perfect.  Accept that, and learn to forgive yourselves and others.  But resist the urge to use imperfection as an excuse to be complacent, lazy, or cruel.  You are Coyotes.  You are better than that.

All of us at Centennial wish you nothing but happiness through all your future adventures.  Class of 2026, live your best life.

Summer Wishes

On behalf of all of us at Centennial, I wish you and yours a wonderful summer of joy, adventure, and relaxation.  We look forward to seeing our Grades 10 and 11 students on August 31.

Sincerely,

Joe Sturgeon, Principal, Centennial High School
