One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

About Our School Council
Greetings Parents of Centennial!
We would like to extend an invitation to get involved with the School Council and Parent Society (CHiPS). This is a wonderful opportunity to stay informed and support our school community. We meet the last Wednesday of each month with 8 meetings during the school year.

Casino Fundraiser & Allocation Meeting
Every 2 years we join forces with the Music Parent Society and Athletics for a casino fundraiser. CHiPS receives one-third of the funds to support various programs and initiatives that are outside of music and athletics. In the past, we’ve supported items such as:
- Diverse mannequins for Cosmetology
- Fish in schools program
- ELL and second language tech programs
- Glider rockers for immersive education
- 3-D printer.
Additional Fundraisers
Throughout the year, we will organize additional fundraisers to support guidance services programs, teacher recognition efforts, or a grad breakfast. Please consider participating when these opportunities arise!
