Engaging in class activities, completing assignments, and handling homework serve as reinforcement for concepts introduced during lessons, providing crucial learning opportunities for students at Centennial High School. These activities are integral to the learning process and play a vital role in achieving success. A student's enrollment in a course signifies a commitment to active participation, and adherence to deadlines is expected for timely completion of work.
Honour Roll Criteria
Students will be honoured two times a year, after the end of each Semester. There are two levels students can earn – Honours, and Honours with Distinction. The criteria for each is as follows:
Honours
- Needs to have completed 3 or more courses totaling 15 or more credits
- Needs to end with an average of 79.5%-89.4% in their top 3 courses
- Two of these courses must be core courses, and any level is acceptable à -1, -2, or -4
- The average in those core course must at least be 74.5%
- Final marks in junior courses will include final exams
- Final marks in Diploma-courses will not include Diploma exams
Honours with Distinction
- Needs to have completed 3 or more courses totaling 15 or more credits
- Needs to end with an average of 89.5%-100% in their top 3 courses
- Two of these courses must be core courses, and any level is acceptable à -1, -2, or -4
- The average in those core course must at least be 84.5%
- Final marks in junior courses will include final exams
- Final marks in Diploma-courses will not include Diploma exams
Other factors
· Students must have a passing mark in every class they are enrolled, including 1-credit CTS modules
· Students who have been suspended may have their eligibility revoked; this will be investigated on a case-by-case basis
· 3-credit courses that stand alone, such as CALM, are not eligible
· 3-credit courses that are combo courses, such as Psychology, are eligible; the average between the two courses will be taken
· For 5-credit courses that end in Term 1 or Term 3 (such as 30-1.5, or AP courses), any marks indicated as being final marks are eligible
o However, for 3-term courses like 30-1.5 or Math10-3/10C, the Semester 1 report card marks will be not eligible
· For CTS courses, the average of all modules for that course will be used
