Welcome (and Welcome Back) to Centennial High School!

Dear Centennial High School Community,

As the summer draws to a close and we head into the weekend, I wanted to reach out to the Centennial community to extend my greetings.  The 2026/27 school year kicks off on Monday.  We as a staff are very excited to meet our new students, and to welcome back our returning Coyotes.  Staff have been hard at work this week, preparing for the week(s) to come.  The mood here at Centennial is brimming with positivity and energy.  This is such a great place to work – I am proud to work amongst such good people.  On Monday, and every day thereafter, the staff of our school will do all we can to welcome, support, and inspire our students, your children.  In partnership with our Centennial families, I am confident that this will be another tremendous school year.

Please read on for several important information items.

Students New to Centennial

  • Welcome to YOUR school.  Whether a student entering Grade 10 or someone joining us for Grade 11 or 12, please know that you are now part of a vibrant and robust school community.  You are never alone and can always reach out to any adult in the building if you have questions or need support.

Returning Coyotes

  • You are the people who have built and maintain the outstanding culture that we enjoy at Centennial.  We look forward to another great year with you all, and we thank you in advance for welcoming our new students with kindness.

Schedule for Monday, August 31

  • Grade 10 students meet in the Gym Monday at 8:40am for welcomes and orientation activities, followed by a lunch provided for all Grade 10s.
  • ALL students (Grades 10 – 12) will have a mini class timetable beginning at 1:00pm.  Students will attend each of their classes for 35 minutes to meet their teachers and get back into the swing of school.
  • Dismissal, as it is every day Monday to Thursday, is at 3:35pm (Friday dismissal is at 1:15pm).

Thank You Link Crew Leaders!

  • We have had dozens of Grades 11 and 12 students in the school this week, on their own time during their summer vacation when they might rather sleep in, spending countless hours of training as part of our Link Crew team.
  • Thank you, our dedicated student leaders, for your selfless work to help ensure that the Day 1 experience for your Grade 10 peers will be a positive one.
  • Thank you also to Ms. Kalala, Mr. Watson, Ms. Parmiter, Mr. Farquharson, Mr. Izyk, and our Culinary Arts team, for your time and dedication in preparing for Monday morning’s activities.

Student Information Package

  • A School Messenger message was shared with our school community on August 10.  This message contained a significant amount of important information.  As we have a number of students who have registered since this date, I am including our Student Information Package again, available through this link: Student Information Package.
  • If you have not previously read through this package, please do so.
