Dear Centennial High School Community,

Yesterday (and this past Sunday) are definitely in contention for 2026 Day of the Year.  What beautiful weather.  Yesterday was the perfect afternoon/evening to watch our Girls Soccer team enjoy a dominant victory, while our football teams practiced hard on adjacent fields.  Tomorrow will be a great day as well.  As you know, September 30 is The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  As such, there is no school tomorrow.  Today is Orange Shirt Day at Centennial.  I am proud of how this school community – staff, students, and families alike – embrace these important events and observances.

Presentation for Parents on University Admissions!

  • CHS School Council is excited to present a free presentation that will be very helpful for any parents with children planning to attend post-secondary
  • Please join us for Behind the Admission Desk: What Grade 12 Families Need to Know for the 2026–27 Post-Secondary Admission Cycle

  • Guest speaker Renee Duan of UNI Consulting will share expert insights on navigating the upcoming admissions cycle, including:
    • Common mistakes that cost students admission offers, scholarships, or program options
    • What admissions committees really look for in interviews, personal statements, portfolios, and supplementary applications
    • Critical Grade 12 timelines, deadlines, and planning milestones
  • This presentation is ideal for Grade 12 parents, but also very informative for Grade 11 parents and even those of Grade 10 students

Unique Pathways Information Night!

  • This is another excellent upcoming event, this one for students and families looking to:
    • Meet our post-secondary and industry partners
    • Learn about different courses and programs
    • Discover options that connect to future education, careers and interests
    • Ask questions, talk directly with industry experts and post-secondary representatives
    • Explore program materials and find out what opportunities might be a good fit 
  • When: Tuesday, October 6, 2026
  • Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Where: Career and Technology Centre at Lord Shaughnessy High School (2336- 53 Ave SW, Calgary, AB)
  • Who: Grade 10 – 12 students, parents and guardians 
  • Register for the information night
  • Registration is not required – however, it is helpful for the team in ensuring we have proper representation for programs of interest to students and families

  • There are several other sessions available for parents and guardians, presented by the Calgary Board of Education and partners

Parking Passes

  • There still a number of parking passes that students have purchased but have not yet picked up from our Business Office
  • If your child has purchased a parking pass, please remind them to pick it up in the Business Office asap to avoid being ticketed
  • Students who have not yet purchased a parking pass can do so in the Business Office

Donations for our Fall Drama Production

  • Planning is underway for our Fall Drama production
  • If you are able to donate any of the items listed below, please let us know!
    • EVA Foam (rolls of any width, foam floor tiles (puzzle edge))
    • Extruded foam sheets; insulation foam (various thickness)
    • PVC pipe and fittings (any length/width though ½” to 1” is ideal and pex pipe is also good)
    • Upholstery foam (1/2” to 2” thick, larger pieces/sheets preferred)
    • Bolts of fabric, large pieces of woven fabric (neutral solids preferred but will take any)
    • White confetti and/or hold punch circles
