School Update - November 17

Dear Centennial High School Community,

It has been a short but very busy week at our school.  Please read below for a couple very quick updates.

Girls Volleyball City Championship Games!

Congratulations to both our Junior and Senior Girls Volleyball teams, who have made the Division 2 City Championship games this weekend after big semifinal wins here at Centennial this week.

  • Junior Girls play TODAY (Friday), 5:00pm @ Central Memorial High School
  • Senior Girls play TOMORROW (Saturday), 2:30pm @ John G. Diefenbaker High School
  • Good luck ‘Yotes!

Monday, November 20: Clothing Upcycle Day

  • Our Green Earth Club is sponsoring a “Clothing Upcycle Day” on Monday
  • Students are encouraged to bring in clean, gently used clothes to be upcycled
  • Students will be able to pick out clothing to keep
  • Thank you Moses M. and Green Earth Club for your vision and organization!

Scholarships

  • This morning our Guidance team shared a presentation with all students Grades 10 to 12 on scholarships
  • It is never too early for students to begin thinking about scholarships, post-secondary, and the world of work
  • Please encourage your child to speak with their Guidance Counsellor regarding possible scholarships, post-secondaries, and long term plans
  • A reminder as well that all Centennial students are enrolled in a D2L course called “Wellness” (not for grades, no attendance, just a D2L shell) – this D2L shell provides many resources for students

Non-Instruction Day November 24

  • A reminder that there are no classes next Friday, November 24 due to a Non-Instruction Day

I hope you enjoy an excellent weekend, and look forward to seeing many of you this weekend as we cheer on our teams!

Sincerely, Joe Sturgeon Principal
