Congratulations Hana Viktorin!

  • A huge congrats to Hana Viktorin, a first year teacher in the CSSI (Communication, Sensory and Social Interaction) program here at Centennial
  • Hana is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Alberta School Board Associations Edwin Parr Award!
  • The Edwin Parr Award has been in existence since 1964, and is awarded each year to the individual deemed the outstanding 1st Year Teacher from amongst all 251 schools in the Calgary Board of Education
  • Hana is a dedicated teacher, as well as a fantastic coach of Coyote Wrestling and Girls Rugby – each day she makes the world a better place
  • Congratulations Hana, and thank you for all the tremendous work you do for our entire school community

Model UN Team Takes Home the Hardware!

  • Our Model UN team competed this past weekend at WestMount Charter School
  • The Centennial team won Most Outstanding Large Delegation, while Ethan Z, Ian L, and Ethan L won Best in Crisis
  • Congratulations to our Model UN competitors and teacher sponsors for this incredible achievement!

Congratulations Coyote Wrestlers!

  • Our wrestling team competed in Cities this past Friday, and we have a number of athletes now heading off to Provincials
  • Congrats to Hunter K (Gold at Cities), Grace S (Silver), Bahman K (5th), Miller M (8th), and all of our competitors
  • Thank you to our volunteer coaches for your exceptional work, and good luck to our wrestlers heading off to Provincials!

Unique Pathways Spring Information Night!

  • Wednesday, March 11 (5:00 – 7:00pm)
  • Location: Career and Technology Centre at Lord Shaughnessy High School (2336 - 53 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T3E 1L2) 
  • Unique Pathways would like to invite high school students and parents to their Information Night about Dual Credit and Exploratory programming
  • Students will have the opportunity to ask questions of industry experts, connect with post-secondary representatives, and explore course outlines and materials
  • This is a chance to discover opportunities that support student interests and help shape potential career paths
  • There will also be brief sit-down information sessions for students and parents to learn more about Unique Pathways and Off-campus Education, and to ask questions of the team
  • Please note that these are general information sessions; specific program details will not be shared
  • The session will be repeated multiple times throughout the event, with times posted at the entrance
  • You can Register Here  (Registration is not required; however, it is helpful for their team in ensuring they have proper representation for programs of interest to students and families)

New this Year: CTS Summer School Programs!

  • Applications will open March 2 for CTS (Career & Technology Studies) Summer School offerings for CBE high school students
  • These hands-on programs include:
    • Explore Broadcasting & Podcasting
    • Explore Cosmetology (at Centennial)
    • Introduction to Networking & Cybersecurity
    • Introduction to Engineering
    • Explore Welding
  • Applications for these courses close April 10
  • More information will be available on the CBE Summer School and Career & Technology websites
  • Centennial students can also connect with their Guidance Counselor to ask about these CTS opportunities

Basketball Updates!

  • Congratulations to all of our basketball teams for a hard fought season
  • Good luck to our Senior Girls, who play at William Aberhart tonight (5:30pm) in the City Semifinals, and who have already qualified for Provincials!
  • Thank you to our dedicated volunteer coaches for the countless hours and commitment to our student athletes

City of Calgary Youth Hiring Fair!

  • March 26 (1:30 – 6:00pm) at The Big Four Building (1801 Big Four Trail SE, Stampede Park)
  • Youth ages 15 to 24 are invited to the attend the Youth Hiring Fair, hosted by The City of Calgary’s Youth Employment Centre (YEC)
  • This FREE event welcomes 80 employers and over 5,000 job seekers

Returning Grade 12 Applications Now Available

  • Students can now apply for a 4th year of high school at Centennial
  • Applications can be picked up in the Main Office, or from Guidance
  • There will be a limited number of spaces available for Returning Grade 12 students in 2026/27
  • Students who wish to take a 4th year of high school to upgrade a mark in a specific course will be directed to Chinook Learning Services
  • Deadline for applications is April 2

Grad Fees

  • A reminder to all Grade 12 students wishing to participate in the Graduation Ceremony on May 15: your $60 Grad Fee is now due
  • The Grad Fee covers the costs of gown and v-stole rentals, caps, tassels, Grad folders, and Lifetouch photos, as well as the facility rental
  • Fees can be paid through your myCBE account
  • Please note: students must pay all school fees prior to being eligible to purchase Grad Banquet tickets

 As I close, I want to express appreciation to our parent/guardian community.  On behalf of all students and staff at Centennial, I offer sincere thanks to all who signed up to work our Casino Night tomorrow and Saturday.  The impact that this fundraiser has on our school community is enormous, and would not be possible without you.  I trust you have better things to do on a Friday night/Saturday morning!  Thank you in advance for your selfless volunteerism.
