School Update - December 22

Dear Centennial High School Community,

Today (Friday, December 22) was the last day of school before the Winter Break.  Classes resume Monday, January 8.

August 31 seems like it was yesterday.  On that day, Grade 10 students were welcomed to Centennial by Link Crew student leaders, the Class of 2024 began a high school year for the final time, and Grade 11s enjoyed walking into the building as neither newbies nor seniors.  We also welcomed many, many students new to our community, city, province, and nation.

And – blink – today is December 22.  We have celebrated musicals, concerts, championship seasons.  We have faced challenges and adversity.  We have learned as individuals, and together as a community.  With the new year will come new excitement, memories, accomplishments, and hardships too.  Then, another blink of an eye from now, our Class of 2024 will be honoured on May 17.

Students, we know that school is a lot.  You have so many competing expectations and responsibilities, all while you begin to really consider what your long term futures might entail.  Know that we believe in you, and that we are proud of you.  This holiday season take time to rest and recharge, and find some time to have fun too.  And, please be safe.  Look after yourselves, your friends, and your loved ones, and come back to us healthy and energized on January 8.

I am sincerely hopeful that this holiday season offers our entire school community time to reflect and renew, and that 2024 is a wonderful year for all.

On behalf of all of us at Centennial High School, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Joe Sturgeon

Principal
