Dear Centennial High School Community,
As I type this message, we are about to welcome some exceptional students and their loved ones to our Theatre for our year-end Academic & Citizenship Awards Assemblies. A huge congratulations to all of our award winners today. Final Exams are complete, report card marks are entered, books are (hopefully) returned, and students are looking to the summer and whatever awaits them there. Centennial staff will gather tomorrow, as we celebrate an outstanding school year and continue to look forward to the future. As we sign off on another school year, please read below for some important updates.
All the Best to our Class of 2024
Things happen so quickly. With each passing year this becomes increasingly evident. For our Class of 2024, I suspect that the first day of Grade 10 feels like a century ago – AND like it was yesterday. I suspect that Semester 2 flew by for most of our graduating students. All of a sudden it was Spring Break, then Grad, then Diploma Exams, and now all is done. Please know, Class of 2024, that you have left a legacy here at Centennial through your heart, determination, and leadership. Thank you for all you have done for our school and greater world. On behalf of the entire staff of Centennial High School, all the best with all your future endeavours. Don’t be afraid to celebrate yourselves while honouring all those around you, and please come back and visit (once a Coyote, always a Coyote). This is a good life. And remember – yours from this day forward will be what you make of it.
Graduation Ceremony Lifetouch Photographs
- This morning Lifetouch dropped off a number of photos they took at the Grad Ceremony (the ones with me and then students by themselves)
- These were pictures that were returned to Lifetouch for whatever reason (wrong address, etc.)
- Please contact the school if you have not yet received your Grad Ceremony photos, so that we can arrange for pick-up
Back to School Information
- A detailed “Back to School” package will be emailed to parents/guardians of incoming Grades 10, 11, and 12 students via School Messenger in mid-August
- Please read through this package carefully, as it will contain a significant amount of important information including several forms and documents that will need to be completed online
August 29, 2024: The First Day of School
- Students will return to school on Thursday, August 29 on the following schedule:
- Grade 10 students will attend all day, beginning at 8:40am with our Link Crew Grade 10 Welcome/Orientation
- Grade 10s will also be treated to a welcome lunch
- All students (Grades 10, 11 and 12) will go through a shortened timetable beginning at 1:00pm, and will be dismissed at 3:35pm
- Therefore, Grades 11 and 12 students do NOT attend on the morning of August 29, and instead should arrive in time for their shortened timetable beginning at 1:00pm
- Again, all students will be dismissed at 3:35pm on August 29
- Friday, August 30 is a regularly scheduled Friday, with Period 1 beginning at 8:40am and dismissal of all classes at 1:15pm
On behalf of all of us at Centennial, we wish you a safe and joyous summer. We look forward to greeting the Centennial Classes of 2025, 2026, 2027 on August 29!
Sincerely,
Joe Sturgeon
Principal
