Centennial High School Updates – September 29, 2025

Dear Centennial High School Community,

As you know, today is a Non-Instruction Day for students.  Please remember that school is closed tomorrow (Tuesday, September 30) as well, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  Classes will resume this Wednesday, October 1.  Please read on for a handful of updates:

Centennial Blood Drive

  • This Thursday, October 2 over two dozen Centennial students will be donating their blood
  • These students will be traveling do the Canadian Blood Services main clinic to donate the gift of life
  • We hope to have another large group of Coyotes donating their blood on October 9
  • Thank you Mr. Krause for being the heart and soul behind our incredible Blood Drives, and Mr. Parnell and Mr. Wasden for transporting our donors
  • A huge thanks as well to you students who have chosen to give blood – you are quite literally saving lives, and that is no small thing

OurSCHOOL Student Survey

  • All Centennial students will have the opportunity to provide feedback about our school this Friday, October 3
  • The OurSCHOOL survey will take place during Period 2 (students on spares should go to the Learning Commons to complete the survey)
  • Students will provide feedback on a variety of well-being measures
  • Participation is voluntary, but we strongly encourage all of our students to lend their voice as we work to continuously improve their school experience

St. Mary’s University Visiting CHS

  • A representative from St. Mary’s University will be in the Upper Cafeteria this Wednesday, October 1
  • Students are encouraged to pop by their display and ask questions from 12:00 – 12:40pm

From our Guidance Department: Upcoming Post-Secondary Institution Open Houses

  • Students are reminded of the following Open Houses at various post-secondary institutions in the province
    • The King's University – Friday, October 3 (campus visit)
    • OLDS College – Friday, October 3
    • Bow Valley College – Saturday, October 4
    • SAIT – Friday, October 17
    • Mount Royal University – Saturday, October 18
    • The King’s University – Saturday, October 18
    • University of Alberta – Saturday, October 18 (free shuttle available, see Wellness D2L shell to RSVP)
    • Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD) – Saturday, October 25
    • University of Calgary – Saturday, October 25
    • St. Mary's University – Saturday, November 1

Welcome to our Spanish Exchange Student!

  • Centennial High School welcomes Ricardo, who is joining us from Mexico for 8 weeks
  • Our student (Benjamin) will in turn enjoy an 8 week exchange in Jalisco, Mexico in February
  • Thank you Ms. Babin for orchestrating these life-changing experiences for students!
