Dear Centennial High School Community,

We hope your week is off to a good start.  This is a busy week at Centennial.  Yesterday you received a School Messenger reminding the school community about the Out-of-Province Post-Secondary fair taking place this Thursday evening (6:00 – 8:00pm) in our gymnasium.  Student Progress Conferences are Thursday and Friday this week (more information below), and our Girls Soccer team plays for the City Championship tomorrow!  Go ‘Yotes!

Girls Soccer City Championship Game

  • Our Girls Soccer team has had a tremendous season, and tomorrow (Wednesday, October 23) they play for the City Championship
  • Please come out and support the girls – 3:45pm @ The Calgary Soccer Centre!
  • Good luck Coyotes!

Centennial Blood Drive – Saving Lives

  • Last week two groups of students joined Mr. Krause to travel downtown to donate blood through Canadian Blood Services
  • Thank you to the 36 student donors who combined to give 30 units of blood – you quite literally saved lives last week and we are very proud of you
  • Thank you also to Mr. Parnell and Mr. Wasden for providing transportation to and from downtown for our donors, and to Mr. Krause for leading this incredible work at Centennial High School

Horizons Leadership Conference – Thursday, October 24!

  • Centennial is hosting the Horizons Leadership Conference this Thursday
  • Hundreds of students and staff from several schools are joining our Leadership students here at Centennial to further develop their culture-setting leadership skills
  • Thank you to our Leadership students and program for organizing this fantastic event – led by Mr. Dickson, Ms. Kalala, and Ms. Vogan!

Gate Admission for CSHSAA Football Playoff Games

  • Schools have been asked to ensure spectators know that gate admission is charged for all playoff football games at Shouldice Athletic Park
  • Admission is cash only (Adults $5, Students & Seniors $2, Children under 6 are free)
  • Good luck to our football teams as they enter playoffs!

Student Progress Conferences

  • A reminder that Student Progress Conferences are this week, as follows:
    • Thursday, October 24 (in person) – 4:30 to 8:30pm
    • Friday, October 25 (virtual, via Microsoft Teams) – 9:00am to 1:00pm
  • All conferences are by appointment only, booked through your myCBE account
  • A reminder that there are no classes this Friday due to the conferences

Green Earth Club Bottle Drive

  • Our Green Earth Club continues to work tirelessly to make the world a better place!
  • They are conducting a Bottle Drive October 21 – 31
  • Donations can be given at the south main doors, during the school day and school events
  • All proceeds will go to green incentives at Centennial

School Council Meeting – Wednesday, October 30

  • Our next School Council & Parent Society meeting is Wednesday, October 30 @ 7:00pm
  • I will share the format of the meeting (in person or via Microsoft Teams) as soon as it is confirmed with me
  • Importantly, the allocation of casino funds will be decided upon at the Parent Society portion of the meeting
  • Please join us if you are able to do so!

January Final Examination Schedule

  • Our January 2025 Final Examination Schedule is nearing completion, and will be posted on our website by early next week

Lifetouch Photo Proof Pickup

  • Parents/guardians or students can pick up their Lifetouch photo proofs during in-person Student Progress Conferences this Thursday evening
  • For pick-up, you will be required to show identification

MidSun Yearbook Distribution

  • Parents/guardians of students who attended MidSun School and ordered a yearbook last year, we will also have your yearbooks available for pick up on Thursday evening (identification will also be required)
