Dear Centennial High School Community,

I hope you are having a good week.  First, on behalf of the entire Centennial High School community, I want to extend my deepest condolences to our friends at Bowness High School, who experienced a tragic student death this week on the day before their Graduation Ceremony.  Our hearts are with the entire Bowness High School Community.

We had our final School Council meeting of the year last night – thank you to our regular parent/guardian crew, and especially to those whose time on Council is over due to their children graduating.  Meanwhile, we are ready to plant 100 trees tomorrow, as the Green Earth Club and our partners Fluor Canada, Tree Canada, Spruce it Up, the City of Calgary, and the Calgary Board of Education all come together to help beautify our property.

Please read below for some important updates.

Class of 2024 Pancake Breakfast

  • It has become tradition at Centennial for CHS staff, in partnership with CHiPS (Centennial Parent Society), to cook and serve breakfast to our departing graduating students
  • We encourage our Class of 2024 to join us on Friday, June 14 @ 8:00am for a tasty send-off on the last day of classes
  • Thank you to Assistant Principal Ms. Banack and Parent Society Chair Jennifer Eriksson for organizing this event, and thank you as well to CHiPS for funding it

St. Mary’s University

  • Yesterday myself and Mx. Mead from Guidance met with the President & Vice Chancellor of St. Mary’s University, as well as their Vice President – Academic and Assistant Vice President – Enrolment & Student Experience
  • As you may know, St. Mary’s is close to Centennial, and they are looking to connect more with our school community and share more information about the programming they offer
  • Applications to St. Mary’s are still open, with Arts and Science applications due August 1 and Bachelor of Education applications due July 1
  • From President & Vice Chancellor Sinda Vanderpool: “Don't miss your chance to experience intimate classroom settings, where dedicated faculty and staff are deeply invested in your success; join St. Mary's for a personalized education journey that prepares you today to be a leader for tomorrow.”
  • St. Mary’s is hosting the Mary’s Festival this weekend and would love to see Centennial families attend – it is a ticketed event (low cost to recover rental expenses)
  • Please see the attachments (click on the links below) for information on applications at St. Mary’s University, as well as Mary’s Festival

Wishing you and yours a splendid remainder of the week, and a fantastic weekend.
