Dear Centennial High School Community,

Today is Day 2 of Semester 2, as students and staff kick off what is hopefully a great second half of the school year.  Things continue to bustle at Centennial, and we have several updates to share today.

School Council Meeting Tonight!

• Our next School Council and Parent Society meeting is tonight
• We meet tonight at 7pm in the Learning Commons
• I look forward to sharing updates and hearing the decisions our Parent Society comes to regarding the allocation of casino funds
• Please join us if you are interested and available

Centennial Presents at the CBE Middle School Well-Being Symposium!

• On Monday, January 27, along with teacher sponsor Ms. Kalala, I had the privilege of watching a presentation at Mount Royal University by two exceptional members of our Class of 2025
• Rosie E. and Kyla L. captivated hundreds of Middle School student leaders (and their teachers) with an outstanding overview of many of the initiatives we undertake at Centennial High School to enhance wellness and to build community
• Thank you Rosie and Kyla – you are phenomenal representatives of our school, and you spent your last day of your exam break volunteering your time at MRU to represent your peers and Centennial as a whole
• I am very proud of this school, and love that the initiatives led by our students and staff are being recognized and identified as examples for schools throughout the Calgary Board of Education to aspire to

• As you saw in a Messenger sent to our school community yesterday, our Semester 2 Meet the Teacher Night is Thursday, February 6

Senior Boys Basketball Broadcast – January 30

• Radio host Mark Stephen will be doing an audio broadcast of our Senior Boys basketball game this Thursday at 7:30pm
• Centennial visits Dr. EP Scarlett, with Mr. Stephen delivering the play-by-play

Annual Coyote Howler Basketball Tournament!

• Our Senior Basketball teams will once again host the renowned Howler on February 7 & 8
• Good luck Coyotes, and thank you MidSun School for your support in offering a second gymnasium for the tournament!

Non-Instruction Day – January 31

• The Calgary Board of Education has scheduled a Non-Instruction Day for this Friday, January 31
• As a result, there are no classes for students this Friday

From Our Guidance Department: Upcoming Post-Secondary Visit Information

• As we move into the new Semester, many Post-Secondary institutions will visit Centennial or host Virtual updates for students
• This is a great opportunity for current Grade 11 students to touch base with these schools and to ask questions in preparation for Post-Secondary applications next year
• Tuesday, February 4 – University of New Brunswick (Upper Cafeteria, 8:30 – 9:15am)
• • UNB will be offering on the spot admission for students!
  • Please ensure that you bring a copy of your DAR (see your Guidance Counselor if you have questions about this)
