From the Guidance Department: Post-Secondary Visits - CHS continues to host Post-Secondary institutions; this is an ideal time for Grades 11 and 12 students to connect with the experts
- Tuesday, February 4 (8:30 – 9:15am) – University of New Brunswick
- They will be offering on the spot admission for students!
- Please ensure that you bring a copy of your DAR (see your Guidance Counselor if you have questions about this)
- Wednesday, February 12 (12:05 – 12:45pm) – St. Mary's University
- Please see D2L for more information regarding visits from post-secondary institutions
School Council & Parent Society (CHiPS) Meeting - Our next School Council and CHiPS is Wednesday, January 29 at 7:00pm
- The meeting is in-person, in the CHS Learning Commons

Semester 2 Start Date - A reminder that the first day of Semester 2 classes is Tuesday, January 28
- Please note that since this is a Tuesday, the first class beginning at 9:15am is Period 2
Cellphone Policy - Students are reminded that personal mobile devices are not permitted during instructional time – this is in compliance with provincial law
- Students may not have out or access cellphones during their classes
- Exceptions are when a teacher (at their discretion) permits cellphone use for the expressed purpose of education related to class activities, and for students who have specific IPP accommodations related to personal mobile device usage
- Thank you for helping us remind our students, as we re-focus on this requirement leading up to Semester 2 start-up
Calgary City Police CyberSafe Presentation - Chaparral School is hosting a CyberSafe presentation by CPS YouthLink on January 23
- Their administration has graciously extended the invitation to this valuable presentation to the Centennial High School community
- Anyone interested in learning more about being safe online is welcome to attend (although the presentation itself is not suitable for a younger audience)

Open House! - Next Thursday, January 23 is a big day for Centennial High School, and for Grade 9 students who will be coming our way for the 2025/26 school year
- We have Grade 9 Tours during the day, welcoming hundreds of Grade 9s who will be able to see what our school, and especially our Options courses, are all about
- That same evening we are hosting our Open House at 7:00pm
- Parents/guardians are welcome to attend our Open House with their Grade 9 child(ren)
- Please note: Open House is for Grade 9 students and their families – not to be confused with our Meet the Teacher evening (which is for current Centennial students’ parents/guardians)
Meet the Teacher Night - Our Semester 2 Meet the Teacher Night is scheduled for Thursday, February 6 at 7:00pm
