Dear Centennial High School Community, We hope this finds you all safe and well after that ‘Alberta Clipper’ passed through with force yesterday. We have a few information items and celebrations to share as the Winter Break approaches. Model UN Club! - The Centennial Model UN Club co-hosted a fantastic event last weekend at All Saints High School
- Over two dozen Centennial students took part and equipped themselves marvelously!
- As a nod to Centennial’s growing and successful Model UN Club, for the first time Centennial students hosted committee rooms the NATO and Pythian Rooms)
- Students spend months preparing to host these rooms – planning them and writing background guides to help guide competition
- The club looks forward to more events in the new year, including Nationals in Vancouver!
- A sincere thank you to our Model UN teacher sponsors for making these experiences possible
Fluor Winter Card Competition! - Since 2009, Centennial Art students have created artwork that celebrates the season of winter, and a panel of judges from Fluor Canada selects some of the pieces to be featured on their corporate holiday cards
- The student artwork, along with a written artist statement, are included on the cards
- In total, there were about 80 pieces of Centennial student art submitted to the competition this year!
- Congratulations to this year’s finalists Grace T, Addison H, and Kaitlyn F, as well as winners Shylo B and Evolette J!
- Thank you to Fluor Canada for your ongoing partnership with and support for Centennial High School!
Library Book Returns - We encourage students to return any Library books as soon they are finished with them
- Textbooks and novel studies are usually due back during Final Exams, but with no formal Final Exam period this year we will need books returned as soon as possible to have time to clean and check them for damage before Semester 2 begins
From our Guidance Department: Upcoming Post-Secondary Events - Centennial is happy to share that Olds College will be hosting ‘Webinar Wednesdays’ in the New Year
- Registration is now open
- Students can find more information about this event and much more in their Wellness D2L shell
Winter Break - Our last day of classes prior to Winter Break is tomorrow (Friday, December 19)
- Classes resume Monday, January 5
January Classes - The last day of regularly scheduled Semester 1 classes for all Centennial students will be Friday, January 23
- Semester 2 begins Wednesday, January 28
Thank you for reading and have a great day. Sincerely, Joe Sturgeon Principal Centennial High School |
