Dear Centennial High School Community, We hope students had an excellent Spring Break. As the calendar turns to April, spring and Grad season are upon us! Families of Grade 12 students, you were sent a separate important Messenger earlier today with Grad-related information – please ensure you read that message. Speaking of The Class of 2025, nominees for Valedictorian will be speaking in front of a panel of students and staff this afternoon and tomorrow. We have a large number of exceptional candidates. I am looking forward to hearing their speeches! Please read on for more information about our school community. Congratulations CANstruction Competitors! - Centennial students, under the tutelage of Mr. Mah, recently competed in the CANstruction event at Southcentre Mall
- Incredible engineering feats were accomplished, creating complex and durable structures out of cans
- The theme was ‘Animal Kingdom’, and our students created two caterpillars (see photo in the link below to view this amazing creation!)
- The CANstruction Awards Ceremony took place during Spring Break, and our combined Fluor/Centennial team won the Best Structural Integrity Award!
- Congratulations to students Roxy D, Schiehallion M, Gulyar U, Marshall M, and Chenyu L!
- And thank you Fluor Canada for your ongoing support of and partnership with Centennial High School!

Rock-A-Thon! - Leadership students continue to be hard at work, always looking at ways to improve the student experience at Centennial
- Our Rock-A-Thon event has quickly become a popular tradition, with student teams rocking (on rocking chairs, not to hair metal bands from the ‘80s!) in our Lower Cafeteria for hours on end
- Each year we have raised over $10,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital directly through Rock-A-Thon fundraising (last year we raised $17,000)
- This year Rock-A-Thon takes place Friday, April 25
- The deadline for teams to sign up (in the Upper Cafeteria at lunch) is next Wednesday, April 9
- Student can see Mr. B. Dickson for more details
Kudos to YSTV! - The Centennial Broadcast Journalism program continues to grow and flourish, with students creating a weekly ‘Yotes Social TV (YSTV) episode celebrating and reporting on various aspects of CHS life
- Kudos to Ms. Miller and the students of our Broadcast Journalism program for adding such a valuable component to our school community!
Europe Trip a Life-Changing Success! - On April 1 over 50 students and staff returned safe and sound to Calgary after an incredible experience in Germany, Czechia and Austria
- Everywhere the CHS group went, locals made a point of extending their appreciation to our staff supervisors for the exemplary behaviour exhibited by our students
- Whether on airplanes, during guided tours, gathering in public spaces and hotels, or experiencing solemn events such as a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp, each and every one of our Centennial travelers represented themselves, our school, and indeed our nation with incredible grace and maturity
- Thank you to Mr. Chmilar and all of our staff supervisors, for preparing our students in such a way that their integrity and character shone through for the world to see; and thank you students, for your marvelous modeling of what it should truly mean to be a Coyote
Provincial Bronze Medalists! - A huge congratulations to our Senior Girls Basketball team, who brought home Provincial Bronze during Spring Break, adding that achievement to their City and Regional Championships!
Facilities Staff are Back! - The Facilities and Cleaning (CUPE) staff at Centennial High School is a truly exceptional and highly skilled group of professionals
- We are grateful to have them back with us at the school, and we ask students to help us help them keep our school a clean and safe place of learning for all
