Dear Centennial High School Community,

We would like to thank the several hundred parents, guardians, students and siblings who attended our Meet the Teacher event last night.  The incredible turnout is reflective of how strong and engaged the larger Centennial community is.  We are proud of our partnerships with families and the greater community, and we look forward to an incredible school year ahead.

Please read on for a few updates as we head into the weekend.

From the Guidance Department: Post-Secondary Visit Updates

  • Centennial will be hosting various Post-Secondary institutions over the course of the school year
  • This is a great time for students to drop in and talk to a recruiter about any program of interest that they may have
  • Recruiters are knowledgeable about their schools, programs, and housing opportunities – please encourage your student to drop by to talk or grab a view book!
  • Upcoming Post-Secondary visits are as follows:
    • Tuesday, September 16: University of Victoria (12:00 – 12:40pm)
    • Thursday, September 18: University of British Columbia (8:30 – 9:10am)
    • Thursday, September 18: SAIT (12:00 – 12:40pm)
    • Tuesday, September 23: University of Calgary (8:30 – 9:10am)
    • Wednesday, September 24: University of Alberta (8:30 – 9:10am)

Student New to the CBE – IPPs/Accommodations

  • If your student is new to the CBE this year and requires accommodations to support success and learning, please connect with Lesley Ruault (Learning Leader Inclusive Learners/IPP Coordinator) to share diagnosis documentation and learning needs
  • If your student is coming from another CBE school, their most recent IPP, diagnosis and coding will remain on file
  • If changes or additions are required to their IPP, please reach out to Lesley Ruault
  • Ms. Ruault can be reached via email at laruault@cbe.ab.ca
  • Thank you!

School Fees

  • Fees are now available to be paid through your myCBE account
  • Thank you for your patience as the Calgary Board of Education sorted out some delays in getting fees posted

Parking Passes

  • Parking Passes are now available, and can be purchased online through your myCBE account
  • Passes cost $42 (including GST) for the year; the fees cover snow removal, maintenance, and line painting costs
  • Once purchased, students need to go to the Business Office to pick up the physical parking pass
  • The parking pass must be displayed on the rearview mirror of the vehicle at all times when parked in the CHS student lot
  • We will begin enforcing parking passes at the start of October

Yearbook Purchases

  • Yearbooks are on sale at the early bird price of $45 (early bird pricing ends October 1)
  • To purchase a yearbook, please visit the following link: http://jostensyearbooks.com/?ref=A01084231
  • Please note: yearbooks are not available through your child’s myCBE account this year, which is a change from last year
  • IMPORTANT: for those families who responded expressing interest in purchasing a yearbook in August (there are about 500 of you!), please note that yearbooks do still need to be purchased as per the instructions above

Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Joe Sturgeon

Principal, Centennial High School
